| I watched this film separately from Carol, but I could imagine her reaction: squirming after 15-20 minutes, sighing after 45, and then, after about an hour, the ultimate –repeatedly looking at her watch.
It was that kind of movie; confusing and hard to follow; literally two and three levels to keep straight (with little help from the director).
Still, I liked it. And I can’t put my finger on why. There’s no great acting, nor wonderful cinematography, though the fx are sometimes spectacular. Yet I was fascinated by the storyline. It was fresh and well presented; once the viewer accepted the premise (suspended disbelief), everything flowed logically. All in all, a fun film to watch and talk about.
| Many who see this will think it is terrific because it is challenging. That is exactly why I didn't care for it. I want to be entertained not challenged. I was so worried that I might miss something and therefore misunderstand the point that by the final scene I was too stressed to care. Leonardo DiCaprio was intense and continues to grow as an actor. His supporting cast was no where near his level. I'd probably like to see this again with someone who could answer the myriad of questions that I have been left with.
