| Italian. Supposedly that should say it all. Alternatively I'd call it "the Joy of Cooking". Whatever the director sought to do was, as far as I'm concerned, lost in translation. Melodrama wrapped in cinematography, that plays much longer than its two hours. Screened at the 2010 Sarasota Film Festival | The British have a saying :”Too Italian by half”. That pretty much sums up this subtitled, art house film starring Tilda Swinton. Wonderfully acted with fabulous scenery, the story drags along virtually from beginning to end. If not for the couple of very steamy sexual encounters there would be virtually no action. Certainly not my cup of tea; though many of the “hi-brow” set will more than likely love it.
