| A Chinese War Epic, set in the year 208 A.D. I’m neither a history, war or China “buff”; but still was kept interested and awake throughout the 2 ˝ hour film. That must say something for the director and cinematography. Subtitled.
| If you can stick with this for the first 30 minutes or so (don’t worry, plenty more movie to come) you are in for an entertaining evening. Because it is in Chinese and subtitled, I spent a good part of the early movie trying to read what was happening and thereby missing who was who- the good guys?, the bad guys? – you get the idea. And once the fighting started, I couldn’t tell one group from the other.
That being said, I felt that the cinematography was worth it, the storyline (once I figured it out) was good and the action scenes, while really long, were exciting. Best viewed in the comfort of your own home, where you can stop the action and discuss who is winning the current battle.
