| Incredibly complex and incredibly simple. If done by someone other than the Coen Brothers maybe it would be “just a movie about a Jewish professor.” They turn this otherwise simple premise into something complex, funny and fun to talk about. How do they keep providing great movies, time after time?
| Sometimes when I leave the theatre it takes a bit of time to mull over what I have just experienced. Such was the case in this newest Coen Brothers’ offering. Here I was often unable to keep from laughing but felt inappropriate doing so. Was this a comedy (dark as it is) or a drama? Set in the mid-1960’s we are invited into the lives a “typical, normal” Jewish family. It is what happens during our visit that will amaze and confound you! The mood is perfectly set so the story that unfolds through excellent acting and directing is mesmerizing albeit sometimes a bit slow. Come and enjoy; you won’t be sorry.
