| Absolutely astounding cinematography made me want to hop on a plane to Australia. The acting, too, was close to perfection: Clive Owen and Nicholas McAnulty as his young son were spot on. Each conveyed the depth of depression and height of mania. Little dialog was required; their facial expressions and body language led the audience. Still, this was emotional overload. One expects a sad movie where it deals with the sudden death of a young mother; but I, for one, can’t be entertained by 100 minutes of melodrama.

Carol: Worth the Matinee Price
Beautiful cinematography is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about this true story. Then there is the acting of Clive Owen and his two on-screen children (George MacKay and Nicholas McAnulty) – it is simply superb. So what is it that is lacking here? Not really anything; it is just a bit of a depressing storyline that is better told in book form I would think. I prefer to come out of a movie that is this well done with a more upbeat feeling!
