| The story of the relationship between poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne
as a romance is exquisite; as entertainment it is a very long film.
| There are many things that can be said about this film. The costumes are gorgeous and should gather an Oscar nomination. The cinematography is outstanding, i.e. the scene in the lavender field is breathtaking. The acting is wonderful; lots of emotion both in actions and on faces. But, and here is the rub, the story is long, dull and in fact unmoving. While this is supposed to be THE romantic story of the short life of John Keats, it plods along so slowly that this viewer couldn’t wait for the credits and they didn’t arrive for almost 2 hours. Wait, so you can take as many breaks as possible.
