| Time travel is sometimes difficult to portray in a film especially when the “movement” can be to the past and the future. That isn’t the only problem with this film. The major fault with both film and script is the lack of purpose. The filmgoer is subjected to repeated travel – to time and place unknown – but never given any reason. The result is helter-skelter melodrama.
| I found the novel gripping and couldn’t wait to turn the page. The movie, on the other hand, lacked continuity and intrigue. The film is a series of scenes of the time traveler (Eric Bana) literally popping in and out of Claire’s (Rachel McAdams) life. There is no description of where he goes or what he does. The viewer just sees him “pop” in and out leaving clothing behind and landing naked in a new, unnamed place. Very unrewarding, considering the novel was terrific. Read the book; skip the movie.
