| Michael Caine and thirteen-year-old Bill Milner combine their talent to make what could've been a so-so script and film, into a minor masterpiece. Caine again shows his expansive range of character, using his wherewithal to draw out the personality of the young Milner, both on the screen and in the screenplay.
A classic art house film; not made for the mass audiences, but rather for those filmgoers who can glean hope from the apparent misery of an old age home.
| This is a perfect art-house film starring Michael Caine. Because Caine stars, you know it is at least well acted. Beyond that, it is a good solid storyline and the addition of thirteen–year- old Bill Milner, a relative newcomer to the big screen, makes for an enjoyable couple of hours.
