| Most of us have seen the Charles Schwab commercial touts and animation and create an engaging and moving anti-war film about the 1982 Lebanon-Israeli War and the Sabra-Shatila massacre.
Bashir Gemaeyl was the Christian president elect of Lebanon, assassinated days before he took office. In the following turmoil an estimated 500-700 unarmed Palestinian refugees (men, women and children) were slain by Christian militia in their refugee camps. All while the invading Israeli troops watched - and some say condoned -the action.
The juxtaposition of animation – something we normally associate with fun and laughter – with the horrors of war provide an impact otherwise hard to imagine.
| Don’t go to see this fully animated film if you think animation equates with light entertainment. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Basically it is a “documentary” about the 1982 Israel-Lebanon war. In reality it “documents” that there really aren’t any people who we can hold harmless. I found that I had to pay complete attention to the film as my understanding of that particular war is limited at best. Now that I have “experienced” the movie I’m more informed but really very confused!
