| A tour de force by Merle Streep, in a film that closely follows the earlier play by the same writer. If you haven’t seen the play, the film should suffice. I found the direction and special effects of the film to be a bit melodramatic.

If you have seen the play then you will know the storyline but this is still worth seeing for Meryl Streep is, once again, amazing. Such range for one person is truly special. And for this performance she has gathered up yet another Oscar nomination.
And if you haven’t been lucky enough to see the stage production then this is more of a must for you. The story is one of faith, suspicion and ultimate doubt. |
