| An excellent film on many levels. First and foremost, a vehicle to showcase Sean Penn's acting skills. Come to think of it Sean Penn is this movie. His performance dominates, and overwhelms the historical significance of Harvey Milk and his accomplishments. Credit must go to the director for providing Penn the opportunity to shine and so dominate this film. And yes, the film accurately portrays both the temporal setting and importance of Milk's election and death.
| There is one main reason to see this film and his name is Sean Penn. He gives an outstanding performance as Harvey Milk, the first “out” gay man to run for public office. He is certain to receive an Oscar.
