Phil - Must See Now!Carol - Worth the Matinee Price
Julianne Moore stars in a film that challenges our comfort level, while providing cinema that can be described as provocative, powerful, and disturbing; and yet predictable. Based on the Barbara Baekeland murder of 1972. A surprising role for Julianne Moore, perhaps providing the film with more mainstream acceptance than a lesser actress would have accomplished. The film strives to provide a window into the lives of the “rich and famous”, though the result is more likely that jaded view that the jealous secretly hope plagues the multi-millionaires. Screened at the Sarasota Film Festival 2008 Based on the shocking murder of Barbara Daly Baekeland, this film will catapult director Tom Kalin right into the Hollywood spotlight. Julianne Moore gives an Oscar winning performance as the famed socialite. Eddie Redmayne (The Other Boleyn Girl) as her son is awesome. The subject matter is often uncomfortable to see on screen and it may even offend some viewers. But it is worth seeing even if you want to wait to rent it in the privacy of your own home.
