| A period piece portraying pre-WWII India, at the cusp of independence from Britain. The film’s screenplay uses the story of one business owner’s relationship with his servant as metaphor for the Brithish treatment of colonial India. Wonderful cinematography which generally overshadows the acting.

| Although the cinematography and acting were very good, I found the story bland and predictable. It is meant to be a period piece about life in India in 1937. You know, the Indians versus the British?
