| While the acting, especially from newcomer Haaz Sleiman, is superb, the movie itself is more melodrama and political statement than entertainment. And the politics are a bit biased. No doubt being in this country illegally is difficult and emotionally draining; and involuntary deportation is not something anyone wants to experience. On the other hand, the filmmakers show only one side of the argument and a biased one at that.
Sure we can be sympathetic, maybe even supportive, but don’t wrap everything in tears and expect me to ignore reality.

| The film begins with beautiful classical music in the background and builds to an African crescendo. Simply, a bored college professor returns to his NYC apartment after a long absence only to find a couple living there. Again, the story begins simply but the plot develops into a complicated and somewhat sad situation. Wonderful acting and directing make this storyline a joy to watch .
