| George Clooney again shows his expansive range here in a role reminiscent of his character in Oh, Brother. Rene Zellweger, perhaps in one of her best performances, matches him, line for line, scene for scene.
Like Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn, the pair “complete” each other in this film, so much so that 1 + 1 equals more than two. Forget the plot, ignore the rest of the characters; go to watch these two light up the screen. It’s a wonder to behold.
| Three elements make this a really terrific film: Great Actors, Great Timing, Great Dialogue. George Clooney and Renee Zellweger are so good together it is just a joy. In fact, that just may be what director Clooney was trying to achieve. In my humble opinion, he was very successful. The story is about the1920’s professional football so you have the sports angle but there is also a love story that makes it fun for the “anti-sport” person in your life. Good all around fun.
