| A thriller with a new theme. Creative, interesting and generally fun to watch. While “inspired by a true story”, it’s still exciting enough to hold the audience. Kevin Spacey and Laurence Fishburne are good enough to engender distaste from the audience, while newcomer Jim Sturgiss grabs our attention. Better than all of the Ocean’s Elevens series, except perhaps the first.
| This is the story of a bunch of college kids who get “recruited” to card count at Black Jack in Las Vegas. You probably need to know going in that this is based on a true story. Otherwise you may think that the storyline takes “forever” to develop and you may find yourself squirming a bit. The other problem is that, even without being familiar with the story, I figured out what was going to happen pretty early. So, once again, I felt myself a bit restless. There really wasn’t enough to the story to keep you in the theater long enough, so to compensate the audience spends lots of time “watching” what is going on in the Casino. I find that boring,even if I’m actually sitting at a table, let alone watching someone else.
