Tommy Lee Jones is excellent in this anti-Iraq war movie. A creative and moving approach which attempts to portray the devastating effects on the psyche of fighting an invisible – or unidentifiable- enemy. A former Army investigator’s (Jones) son goes AWOL after returning from Iraq, and Jones’ attempts to find him reveals much about father, son and the moral dilemma war can create. An excellent screenplay, well directed and acted reveals much more than a retelling can convey. Not as powerful, but still reminiscent of Deer Hunter. This is the first film I’ve seen about returning soldier from Iraq. It is moving and frightening at the same time. Tommy Lee Jones, the father of the returning soldier, is powerful in his role. And if you’ve recently seen Susan Sarandan in the film Mr. Woodcock you can’t help but notice a dramatic difference in her appearance. Charlize Theron is like a chameleon – she never looks the same twice but her acting skills are excellent.
