An action movie with a bias. Surprisingly anti Arab – or at least as I saw it. Brings home the reality of terrorism; probably giving the viewer a realistic sense of what present day existence in Baghdad, or Israel, is like. Most disturbing was the inability of the director to display an understanding of the underlying causes of the Islamic-American conflict. More akin to the post WWII movies where US Troops defeat the “bad guys”, be they German or Japanese. Okay, now I need a light, fluffy film. In the past few days I’ve had too much war both on film and in the books I read. There just doesn’t seem to be an end to the anti-war material out there. And this story takes place on “friendly soil” in Saudi Arabia. It really doesn’t do much for Arab-American relations and just further attempts to show that war isn’t going to be the answer to world peace. Jamie Fox is once again terrific in the role of the “leader” and he gets excellent backup from Chris Cooper and Ashraf Barhom.
