| Another film that confirms my personal theory that the third of any sequel is destined for failure. Sure George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon are strong actors – and good to look at. Still one wants more than that.
All of “Ocean’s” [11, 12, 13] make their mark in the telling of the heist – once the date arrives, the action is too fast to allow the director to explain - or the viewer to deduce – the what and how. Still the ‘telling’ has to provide sufficient detail and logic, so as to keep the viewer interested and involved, yet leave the puzzle pieces scattered so as not to spoil the surprise.
This third film in the series fails to deliver at either end: neither the telling, nor the end game provide the necessary suspense to capture our interest or deliver an ending that is suspenseful, logical and foretold by the ‘telling’. The viewer comes away disappointed by a long, slow movie that ends in a blur of unconnected vignettes.
| The third in a series (so far) with much of the same cast as the first. Should be a winner and it basically is. It gets a bit lost in the middle which makes it seem like you’re missing a nice day outside but it eventually turns back the right way and you come away satisfied.
