| Tongue-in-cheek wonderful. Go to experience the nostalgia of “grindhouse theater” and not a movie; and you’ll love it. If you’re uptight, don’t appreciate violence for humor’s sake, or can’t laugh at gore- stay home.
For fans of Tarantino: this offering is more pulp fiction that Pulp Fiction. Sure- as a double feature it’s a little long – but you have to stay for all the “trailers”; each directed by a different artist.
Remember – laugh! Theses films are supposed to be fun.
| Planet Terror (Feature Film No. 1)
Wow! How to begin? First of all, it is probably a good idea if you follow the advice of another reviewer – don’t take it seriously. So I sat in the theater with my sense of humor in place and actually enjoyed this film. It is violent but it is entertaining. In fact, it would appear that a new “super-hero” is created right before your eyes along with a new “special effect” called “the missing reel”. Directed by: Robert Rodriquez
Death Proof (Feature Film No. 2)
And then, just when you think that you can go home, the second feature of the double feature begins! No one tells you that this is going to happen except a screen at the beginning of “Grindhouse” but I didn’t believe that this would really be the case. After all, there were missing reels and trailers for films that appear to be grainy and amateurishly produced. I felt as though I was in the drive-in theater of my youth. Here we have evil versus good (or at least pretty) in a far different setting than the first film.
Directed by: Quentin Tarantino
