Winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign (Germany) Film (2007). Through the vehicle of wiretaps and surveillance the film depicts life in East Germany just before the Wall came down. Interesting, instructive and a bit terrifying. Hopefully those among us who think the intrusions of the Patriot Act are necessary will see this one, and have second thoughts.
Reminiscent of “The Conversation” (1974), an Oscar nominated film by Francis Ford Coppola.
| A very heavy dramatization of life behind the Iron Curtain in East Berlin before the fall of the Wall, this German subtitled film takes us into several lives of those who lived through it, some coming out on the other side. A thought provoking film that will have you leaving the theater feeling good about your life today.
