| But for the performance of Forest Whitaker this movie is not much more than a video history of the rise and fall of Idi Amin, the murderous dictator of Uganda. Whitaker’s performance, capturing the egomaniacal gleam of Amin, earned him a Best Actor nomination from the Academy and a Golden Globe Award in 2006.
| This is the story of the early years of Idi Amin, dictator of Uganda. The exceptional portrayal of Amin by Forest Whitaker is definitely worth the price of admission. Look in his eyes and you are “looking” at Amin. Watch his facial features when he is speaking and you are seeing Amin. If not for Whitaker’s performance, you could skip this; but he is so wonderful, you shouldn’t.
