| In the same vein as Saving Private Ryan, showing us the blood and stress of a major WWII battle. It’s interesting that it has taken almost 60 years to learn that even WWII, where the enemy and the morality of the war were clear, had its iniquitous side. The film tends to drag. Of course, war is just that and Clint Eastwood takes his director talents to a new high. The story is of the photo taken at Iwo Jima and how it “won” the War.
