Interesting film, as much about the crisis at Buckingham Palace after the death of Princess Diana, as about Queen Elizabeth. Some insight into the difference between the monarch and the government of Great Britain. Probably a good intro course (for Yankees) about government in the UK. |
First and foremost, Helen Mirren is wonderful. In fact, she portrays the current Queen of England so well that she could almost be her. The film is apparently a very good look into the Royal household at the time of death of Princess Diana. We are given a peak “behind the wall” of the palace into the hearts, minds and daily lives of those who reside there. Tony Blair, the new Prime Minister butts heads with the traditional Royals and the result is a slowly paced but well done film.
