Movie Reviews by Phil & Carol

Although we won't give up our day jobs, we immensely enjoy reviewing movies. We started this as a fun project for our friends some years ago. Seems that since our children were all grown, we had plenty of time to go to the movies. Most of our friends had two or three still in diapers and could only rent from the video store. They would urge us to give them some info about the "good ones" to rent.

At first we started passing around our opinions at dinner parties and thought about a "newsletter". Our idea evolved into our column and now this web site; saving us lots of postage!

As I'm sure Carol will tell you, we have no formal training in "movie reviewing" and don't pretend to know more than you and your significant other. We do get to a lot of movies, two or three times a week; sometimes four!

You may ask why we have been "chosen" to give the weekly review of movies for the town. The answer is simply that we volunteered. What makes our opinion important? Absolutely nothing! We have simply been going to the movies together for over 25 years and it has become a sort of hobby for us. It is not unusual for us to see more than one a week, unless we are travelling.

We mean to keep it simple. No plot giveaways - we hate the previews that give you the entire movie plot in 90 seconds. A quick Must See Now, Worth the Matinee Price, Wait for the Video, Don't Even Rent It will be the style. Simple enough? Remember, this is a hobby for us, something we truly enjoy and if it is complicated or tedious it will no longer be fun!

After graduating from Marietta College in 1968, Carol thrashed around through many "careers" (teaching, social work, retail) until finding the thing that made her happy each day - planning travel for her friends and eventually clients. Carol has been a travel consultant for over 14 years.

Carol and Phil, along with their only child Tina, have travelled extensively all over the world. They have rented boats in France, took a month trip around the world, cruised on Lake Powell, white water rafted in the West, and have been to Europe over 25 times. Don't ask what their favorite place is because there are so many!
